Fender Rhodes SeventyThree is a classic electric piano that has been a staple in the music industry for decades. While its unique sound and feel are beloved by many, the instrument does require maintenance and repairs from time to time to keep it in top condition. Recently, we had the opportunity to repair a Fender Rhodes SeventyThree for a client who was experiencing some issues with the instrument.

One of the main issues we addressed was an uneven action of the keys. In order to fix this, we had to replace the worn-out hammers, together with a complete replacement of all felt pads on the hammers. This dramatically improved the action of the keyboard and made it playable again.

We also replaced the hammer tips, which improved the clarity of the sound. The old tips had become worn down and were causing the notes to sound muted. The new tips provided a much crisper and clearer sound, which was immediately noticeable.

We also discovered that the 73rd tine was somewhat silent, which required its replacement. This involved carefully unscrewing the old tine and tonebar and replacing it with a new one. We then retuned the tines by precisely adjusting the tuning springs, which brought the instrument back to its proper tuning.

Finally, we addressed some issues with the amplifier. We replaced a defective power switch and some cold joints on the PCBs, which improved the reliability and performance of the amplifier.

In conclusion, by taking the time to make these repairs, we were able to restore the instrument to its original quality and ensure that it would continue to perform well for years to come.
